If we take a snapshot look into BP's bedroom window, we can see why President Obama or our Congress cannot possibly afford to lean too heavily on BP or let anything ever happen to them for the Gulf spill.
You're going to see some things that may shock and anger you-or they might just open up your eyes long enough to see the truth, which is: If BP falls it will significantly impact the whole world financial system and economy.
Here are the Top Three suitors out of BP's top 20 major shareholders(footnote A) bedding down with BP under the fold...
These three represent the TOP THREE out of the top 20 global industries which are heavily invested in BP. You may or may not recognize that many of these companies are major domestic and world players on the world's economic stage:

Oh, what a tangled web globalization has weaved!
There is always more to any picture than we see at first glance. President Obama hands are tied behind his back with steel cables so thick, it would take a blow torch to set them free. Not even our President, with all the power of his office, can wave a magic wand and make this all go away.
He probably could've done more and probably should have done more to prevent BP from drilling off our shores, but I have concluded that his hands were tied by something greater than steel cables here. His hands are tied by the power of the almighty dollar!
I made this diary as short as I possibly could in keeping with my "snapshot" meme here. I could've belabored the point, but it would've done nothing to abate the pain and suffering of the greatest ecological disaster to hit our shores. I felt there was no need to beat a dead horse.
The damage to our Gulf coast is already done. I don't need to rub salt into everyone's wounds. But I'm not going to let President Obama take the fall for this alone. Our collective failures to implement a plan and to work the plan to re-tool America into the 21st Century new GREEN economy lies squarely at all of our feet! We should've already had a green economy. The 70's oil embargo days were our wake-up call. We've had more than enough time and we've had 6 prior presidents who chose to put American energy independence on the back burner.
I refuse to blame President Obama any longer for these failures that were out of his hands. He will stand by or fall on his own sword, and I refuse to let the repubs take anymore pleasure in trying to play pin the tail on the donkey at our President's expense any longer!
Contrary to the beliefs of our worthy opponents on the other side of the aisle, Obama was born in the USA. He was never a traitor and is not now a traitor, a Marxist or a Communist as they have falsely accused him too many times to count. And why have they made all of these baseless, scurrilous charges? To cover up all of their own dirty hands from public view.
Is President Obama without any faults? No. Is anyone perfect in every way? No one has clean hands. And we are all in this thing together to the end.
Does anyone here believe that they would fare better under a McCain-Palin, or any other republican administration? I don't.
He's not getting a free pass from me on anything. We've always heard that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. So I'm going to keep squeaking until he greases my wheel, but I'm not keeping silent lest he believes everything is just OK, and he puts the greasegun back in the tool shed!
Now I must take my liver meds, my insulin shots and eat some breakfast. I will be back.
