John's Not Going Anywhere, folks!
Sun Jan 27, 2008 at 06:02:28 PM PDT
It's no secret here that I have opposed the Bush neocon agenda and His Majesty the King Bush II from my very first comment and my very first diary in 2006. Nothing has changed. I never accept anything at face value and for better or worse, I question everything. That's what we inventors do. That's what we Democratic activists do. And that's what movers and shakers are supposed to do!
Tonight, I was accused of being a cynic. Life made me that way, and I wear my cynicism like a badge of honor!
This year our party has three qualified candidates running to clean-up the mess that Bush is leaving us all. The Iraq war, the perpetual war that McCain has said he's willing to stay a hundred years fighting.
If you want to know why I'm a cynic, follow me under the fold...
My response to Senator Kerry's diary.
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 11:17:47 PM PDT
First, let me say that I agree with your opposition to swiftboating any of our Dem candidates and I applaud your valiant service to this nation, fighting heroically in a war you detested. I remember a younger, hard-charging John Kerry who hated the Vietnam war so much, he testified before Congress against it. Yet you still served with distinction and valor!
Follow me under the fold for my response to his diary and my question today for Senator John Kerry. Please holster your tasers until the end of my diary...

Empire's not so bad after all kids!
Well, that's what you who rely on the United States government or the MSM for your news would be led to think. Bush's news and Reich wing propaganda machine[or most of the MSM] would lead you to believe that 2007 has been our best year yet going on in the Iraq war chapter of our history, fast approaching the five year anniversary of May 2, 2008 of our "Mission Accomplished" of Iraq. Well, nothing could be further from the truth.
But if you only depend on your news from our government and corporate-controlled MSM and media outlets, you would swear that maybe the Bush invasion and subjugation wasn't so bad, and maybe the neocon concept and agenda for world hegemony and empire is not such a bad idea after all!
Follow my rant under the fold, as this is only a primer, and you'll see just a little bit why you should never trust our government or our MSM for any of your news, unless of course you just happen to like drinking the neocon koolaid. I personally never touch the stuff...
Making laws are like making sausage, if you saw it you'd hate them.

Who's the Legislature here anyway, Bush or Congress?
The other day, I was daydreaming about night things in the middle of the afternoon. You know, what it's like. You want to take things you hear at face value and you want to have faith in your government. You truly want to, have faith, that is. Then, it hit me like a freight train! I remember reading the original, unrevised, un-enhanced version of the USA PATRIOT ACT after it was passed in 2001, and how it took my laborious reading of it FIVE times before I could make head or tails out of it, and knowing that there was no forking way that the ex-party animal Bush read it even ONCE before signing it.
Heck, not even the Congress wrote it, Professor John Yoo and Michael Chertoff being its co-authors, crafting its basic draft almost a full year before its final passage after 9/11, and Congress only privy to a scant coversheet of this mammoth new law, giving Bush new greater powers over our private lives, which wasn't too surprising seeing that he already was secretly(and illegally)warrantlessly wiretapping us too, at least 6 months before 9/11.
Please follow me under the fold, this is important dang it...
My Top Keith Olbermann 2007 Special Comments
Sun Dec 30, 2007 at 03:25:42 AM PDT
Keith Olbermann is by far the most popular commentator on Dkos. His blistering critiques of the Bush administration have kept us more than entertained this year. He has educated the American people. He has exposed the Reich wing propaganda and attack dogs for what it and they are. KO has shown time and time again that the Iraq war was nothing more than a war criminal war of aggression, based on nothing but lies, and a war of subjugation for a false mission; and that Mister Bush's war on terror has been more focused on the theme that the American people are the enemy.
Instead of focusing on the real terrorists, Mister Bush has assumed near-dictatorial powers, scrapping every single plank of the Bill of Rights, save the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms.

We don't need any stinking impeachment articles!
Sat Dec 15, 2007 at 06:25:11 AM PDT
Mister Bush, it can be a very stressful time in your life if the United States of America has decided to investigate you. And since our Congress has been lax in its sworn duties to investigate you in the form of impeachment hearings, you may have been living under the false sense of security that you are the President, and that high office somehow shields you from the Constitution's sword of justice and the consequences for flouting the rule of law. But do not be deceived, sir. It doesn't!

I feel like a foreigner in my own country.
Fri Dec 14, 2007 at 06:24:52 AM PDT
"Ich bin ein auslander", translated to mean I am a foreigner in my own country.
I've felt like a foreigner in my own country for such a long, long time now. In fact, I don't even know my nation of birth some 55 years ago on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 anymore( which incidentally is also my first anniversary of making TU here on Dkos. Make all checks payable to...no, just kidding!) And I fear for the survival of our republic in ways that I've never felt before, unable to shake this gut-wrenching feeling that something most terrible is in the offing for us all. Anyway, everybody here seems to be more than just a little bit uneasy about the awful state of our union under the auspices of the newly-elected 110th Congress and their apparent total capitulation and surrender to Mister Bush.
Last night, I happened upon some rare and never-before or at the very least suppressed publicized videos of his speeches on YouTube, that I wished to share with everyone today, if I may be permitted the lattitude under the fold...
The Terrorists Won what they couldn't win on the battlefield!
Thu Dec 13, 2007 at 02:18:13 AM PDT
Here's an epiphany, your Damascus road, Mister Bush: Americans did not attack us on 9/11! But you and your minions have relentlessly attacked us!
So why the rush towards police state? Over Osama bin Laden, a toothless lion cub who couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag? Over 19 dead hijackers with box cutters who couldn't land an airplane on their best day, much less execute the resulting coup d'etat the aftermath of 9/11? Over a deposed and executed dictator who used to rule Iraq by the name of Saddam Hussein?
Are we to believe that the greatest nation on this planet is a paper tiger, that it can defend itself most effectively, with the utmost efficiency and supremacy over any other nation, against any other military power on this planet, indeed any given 100 nations, but it cannot defeat this concept called terrorism without enslaving, subjugating, terrorizing its own people?

NY times "Notes" say Bush Lied. My money says he'll attack!
Thu Dec 06, 2007 at 01:12:14 PM PDT
Ok, so let's look at what all this fuss is about, and I'm going to offer my opinion on this whole affair, which is in direct opposition to another much more popular, learned and informed diarest than myself, and his diary which is currently on the Rec'd. List.
And just because my dear departed father was very high in our intelligence community, who wore two hats, holding and retiring at the rank of Lt. General and also very high in our nation's covert intelligence activities, doesn't necessarily mean that I'm privy to any special qualifications, or that I know what I'm talking about to a dead certainty, does it? But I'm going to take a stab at it, anyway.

"We the People in order to form a more perfect union"...
Tue Nov 27, 2007 at 08:59:07 AM PDT
Sometimes even great leaders must be led by We The People!
Dissent is not treasonous, but mindless complicency and goose-stepping complicity is, and oftentimes the government we get is the government we deserve, by the virtue of our collective, benign neglect.
Just because our leaders may have found temporary dubious security and get to hang on to their jobs a little while longer under this de facto dictatorship, doesn't mean all of us true American patriots also capitulated to his Majesty King BushII!

Character assassination at its finest: "Et tu, Brute"?
Mon Nov 12, 2007 at 05:11:08 PM PDT
"Et tu, Brute"?
Julius Caesar: Act 3, Scene 1
CAESAR Doth not Brutus bootless kneel? bootless in vain (Caesar's point is that if Brutus can't change Caesar's mind, no one can.) CASCA Speak, hands for me! Speak plead, strike They stab CAESAR. CAESAR Et tu, Brute?— Then fall, Caesar! Et tu, Brute? and you Brutus? Dies.
Shakespeare gives us all a lesson in humility, the ultimate betrayal, the price for devouring one another, and the mountains of doubt encountered by those who strive for greatness among us. But do we really want the greatness of America, or do we just aspire for the gladiatorial thrill of the bloodsport and self-flagellation, and the languishing in our own misery? Misery, indeed! And misery loves company!
It seems that we Democrats love the agony of defeat more than the unity of victory over the repubs.

Why Bush Will Never "Face the Music".
Thu Nov 01, 2007 at 01:38:09 PM PDT
Bush will never be held accountable under the rule of law for all of his breaches of our Constitution and international law because of what I call "Bush's reverse doppler effect", the closer he gets to the end of his term the LOUDER he gets!
Many here have been writing thoughts along the lines of, "Just wait until we have a bigger majority and a Democratic president in 2008. Everything will be different"!
B O L O G N A! H O G W A S H! B A L D E R D A S H!
I'm going to try to explain why that's probably not going to happen, even if we do win every single one of our goals in 2008, unless we change the system, not just the major players under the fold...
Why I Oppose Bush With All My Power...
Tue Oct 30, 2007 at 05:43:51 PM PDT
...And the "good Germans" among us who refuse to fight their tyranny!
I've got a personal stake in how all of this turns out. First, I come from a long line of true patriots. My family helped build this nation and I've got family roots all the way back to the original 13 colonies. My family fought on both sides of the Civil War. The only war my family "missed" was WWI. We fought in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf War I. So I've got a personal stake in this thing, this American experiment in democracy. And I'm not going to let some hot-shot wannabe tin-horn dictator destroy everything my family helped build for the last 232 years.
So follow me under the fold for the rest of my story of why I have opposed, why I still do oppose, and why I will continue to oppose the Bush neocon corporate agenda of regional and world hegemony and his new world order, new and improved Fourth Reich! ...

Are you the Bush's 9/10ths--or the 1/10 of the law?
Sun Oct 21, 2007 at 08:13:24 AM PDT
I'm among the "1/10th of the law" that Bush doesn't own.
This morning I decided to re-post or reprise my diary "Possession is 9/10's of the law", I wrote on Sunday, Mar 04, 2007. It shows how much our mindset has changed, or rather, how much it hasn't changed since I wrote this 7 and 1/2 months ago.
Mister Bush owns the GWOT. Mister Bush owns Iraq. Mister Bush owns the United States. Mister Bush owns the Constitution. Mister Bush owns the Congress. Mister Bush owns the SCOTUS. Mister Bush owns the Stock Market. Mister Bush owns Corporate America, Big Oil, and the Military-Industrial Complex.

Mister Bush, There's not a terrorist behind every lampshade! Stop treating us like criminals, do your job, and give us our citizenship back!
I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.
Oliver Cromwell
English general & politician (1599 - 1658)
Mister Bush, I have been your political opponent your whole 6 year 9 month tenure as president, and I have vehemently fought everything you have stood for, every political agenda, your war, tooth and nail and every step of the way!
But I'm a loyal American citizen, who wore the uniform of a soldier for two years and a sailor for ten years, defending this nation and its Constitution from tyranny.
I have watched with utter aghast as you have ripped this nation apart in one way or another, and I've yet to see a shred of evidence of your being "a uniter, not a divider".

The "Establishment" really hates the anti-war wing.
Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 07:49:32 PM PDT
Sure the DNC party elite and "Old Guard" Dems "love" us, our relentless, ruthless netroots blogging, and GOTV slogging all the way up to election day. And they woo us like we were their old long lost high school sweethearts, but deep down inside they really hate us. We're the workhorses for change and the "establishment" patronizes us, but they really don't want change at all, and that's what makes them, diametrically opposed political ideology aside, not a dime's worth of difference from being like the Old Guard machine repubs.
They'll promise us anything and everything as long as we shed our sweat, blood and tears for them, but when it comes the time for them to actually deliver on their promises to us, they shout "anti-war wing" who?

Don't forget to get your flu shots!
Fri Oct 12, 2007 at 11:41:11 PM PDT
I got mine this afternoon. It costs $30 here, but I have Medicare so I got it for nothing. My girlfriend wasn't so lucky. She works for Food Lion. They only paid $10 of it and yours truly got the "honors" for the other $20. She works in the public so getting that flu shot isn't an option. We can't afford two weeks of down time for the flu.
I'm writing this tonight to strongly encourage everyone to get their shots. Why? Because I got the "dead virus" today of the 2007-2008 influenza strain and it is kicking my ass! I hate to see what the "live strain" will do to anyone who doesn't have any antibodies built-up. Sorry this is so short. I'm SICK! Now please go get your shots!
